Principal's Message

Week of March 25

Hello Marshall Families,

This is the last week of school before Spring Break.  MMS will be closed from April 1-5.  School will resume on Monday, April 8.  We hope everyone has a restful and relaxing week!

ASB kicks of a Spirit Week on Monday with crazy socks day.  Please visit the ASB Activities page for the dress up themes for the rest of the week, as well as information about all things ASB.

It was discovered last week that several of the solar panels in the PE area and in the main parking lot were cracked due to students throwing rocks onto the panels.  Please encourage your student not to throw rocks at school for any reason.  Any student discovered throwing rocks on to the solar panels will face disciplinary action and parents/guardians may be held liable for any financial costs to replace or repair the panels.  Throwing rocks in the parking lot might also result in damaged car windows, which are subject to the same disciplinary actions and financial responsibilities.

I promise this is the last time you have to read this message!  The window to complete the parent portion of the California Healthy Kids Survey closes on March 29.  The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.  The information gathered is helpful in determining our focus for the 2024-2025 school year.  As of Friday, 31% of Marshall parents and guardians had completed the survey.  Thank you to those that have taken the CHKS.  Your input is greatly appreciated.  If you would like to participate, you can click here to access the survey.

Congratulations to 8th grader Omar Abdulaziz and 7th grader Anabia Ehsan for placing first in the Biomedical Engineering category at the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair.  Their project, "Early Detection of Bradykinesia and Tremors in Parkinson's Disease Using a Wearable Inertial-Measurement Unit," won numerous awards and honors at the event and qualifies them to move on to the state competition.  Well done, Omar and Anabia!

I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Sincerely,

Stephen Olds, Principal
